Saving the Team

Twelve-year-old Devin loves to play soccer. If she hadn’t just left Connecticut to move across the country, she would have been named seventh-grade captain on her school soccer team.

But now that Devin is starting seventh grade in Kentville, California, all bets are off. After all, some of the best players on the US national team come from California. She’s sure to have stiff competition. Or so she thinks.

When Devin shows up for tryouts, she discovers that the Kentville Kangaroos—otherwise known as the Kicks—are an absolute mess. Their coach couldn’t care less whether the girls win or lose. And Devin is easily one of the most talented players.

The good news is, Devin quickly makes friends with funny, outgoing Jessi; shy but sweet Zoe; and klutzy Emma. Can Devin and her newfound friends pull together and save the team from itself?

Sabotage Season

Things are going wrong left and right for the Kentville girls’ soccer team, and Devin’s sure the girls from their rival team, the Pinewood Panthers, are behind the many mishaps. Can Devin get to the bottom of the mystery and stop the sabotage before her team’s championship hopes disappear for good?

Win or Lose

Against all odds, the Kicks have made it to league playoffs. With the championship trophy in sight, it’s time to step into high gear.

But the road to victory is littered with challenges. Some of the Kicks think Devin is taking all the credit for their success. Zoe’s upcoming bat mitzvah has taken her head out of the game. Worst of all, Coach Flores has to leave town at the Kicks’s most critical moment—and her replacement is no treat.

Will the Kicks be able to continue their unlikely winning streak all the way to the championship title?

Hat Trick

Now that playoffs are over, the Kicks won’t be playing together again until the spring. But soccer-crazy Devin can’t imagine a life without soccer! She and her friends decide to try out for a travel team in a very competitive local league, but not everyone makes the cut.

Meanwhile, Devin’s little sister, Maisie, wants to try out for her elementary school’s soccer program. But due to budget cuts, the program has been eliminated! The Kicks rally together to help raise money—and volunteer to help with four different projects on the same day!

Things get hectic as the girls deal with the challenges of being on the competitive, tougher team; figuring out how to keep their friendships together as they all go in different directions; and trying to save the elementary school’s soccer program. If they can pull off all three, it will be a true hat trick!

Shaken Up

Devin is finally getting used to California; she’s got sunstreaks in her hair and has even picked up some So-Cal lingo. Then Devin experiences an earthquake, and she’s more freaked out than she expected she would be.

The earthquake is just the first in a series of chain of events that shake Devin’s confidence. She fails a test in a subject she knows well. Her crush seems to have his attention on another girl. And worst of all, her soccer mojo is nowhere to be found.

Now Devin, the girl who usually inspires confidence in her friends and teammates, will have to turn to them for support.

Settle the Score

Devin is finally catching her stride with the winter soccer league, and as the championships approach, Devin and Jessi’s team has a real shot at coming out on top! Only, Zoe’s team does too, and suddenly things get awkward between the Kicks. Devin tries to keep her head, but she’s torn—she wants her friend to be happy, but she wants to win, too! And Zoe’s too busy strategizing with her new teammates to make time for the Kicks. As the finals get closer, tensions rise until even Frida and Emma don’t know who to root for. Maybe this time the Kicks can’t stand up under the weight of competition.

Under Pressure

It’s spring, and school soccer season is back—and so are the Kicks! Devin is excited to be reunited with her teammates, and after they performed so well in the fall, she has high hopes for a championship win this time around.

But it was easier for the Kicks when nobody expected them to win. Now there are high expectations, and some of Devin’s teammates are worried about living up to them. As the start of the season approaches, the girls begin to feel the pressure.

Will the Kicks get their heads in the game in time to start the season right?

In the Zone

Spring season continues and the Kicks are working their hardest to be champions. But Emma’s confidence takes a dive after tripping and letting a shot go into the goal. Embarrassed by the blunder, she’s not sure if she’s cut out to be a goalie.

Devin tries to help Emma, but she’s dealing with uncertainties of her own. The cute new boy at school asks Jessi to go to the movies with him and some other friends, and she accepts, leaving Devin, Steven, and Cody behind. Does Jessi not like Cody anymore and what does this mean for Devin and Steven?

With everything so uncertain, will the Kicks be able to stay in the soccer zone?

Choosing Sides

After an easy win against the Roses, Devin is reminded of how the Kicks were playing when she first joined and how far they have come since then. Devin runs into Sasha, a summer league teammate of hers, who confides that the Roses’ coach doesn’t seem to care that they’re losing and asks Devin for help. She invites the Roses to a weekend soccer clinic that the Kicks are going to. But when the eighth graders find out that Devin is helping another team in their league, they are not pleased and accuse Devin of helping the competition—especially when the Roses begin to win.

Meanwhile, Zoe and Emma haven’t been seeing eye-to-eye, and their friendship seems to be in trouble, putting Devin and Jessi in the middle of their fights. When they begin to disrupt the Kicks’ practices, Devin knows she has to do something.

Can Devin prove to her team and her friends that she’s not playing favorites or choosing sides?

Switching Goals

Frida is convinced Devin is her good luck charm. So when Frida lands an audition for a commercial, she begs Devin to come with her.

But while she waits backstage, Devin has a bit of god luck of her own—an agent spots her and thinks she’d be perfect to model for an athletic wear photo shoot!

Devin doesn’t know anything about modeling, but she decides to give it a go. Soon, though, her modeling and soccer schedules start to conflict, and Devin feels like she’s letting her team down in all the chaos. She knows she has to choose between soccer and modeling, but with everyone talking about her playing in college and the rest of the Kicks obsessing over a fortune-telling app, it feels like Devin has to choose her whole future right now too.

Is soccer the goal Devin really wants to keep going for? Or will she shift her eye to another prize?

Homecoming

Devin is finally on her way to Connecticut to visit her best friend, Kara, and she couldn’t be more excited! Not only that, but the Kicks have just made it into the playoffs!

Except Devin’s good fortune seems to have run out. First, the airport sends her luggage to Albuquerque. Then, when she finally gets to hang out with Kara, all they do is fight. And what’s worse, Devin thinks her parents are planning to move them back to Connecticut!

Devin’s not sure what to make of her unfortunate homecoming. Are she and Kara even friends anymore? Is Devin ready to leave her team behind to move back to Connecticut? And can she get her head back in the game in time to win the Kicks’ first playoff match?

Fans in the Stands

There are only two games separating the Kicks from the regional championship title. And with the Kentville Kangaroos boys’ team also on their way to the championship, Devin can’t contain her excitement for her friends!

That is until Steve, Devin’s crush, admits that he doesn’t think girl soccer players are as good as the boys.

Devin’s certain that the only want to prove him wrong is to work hard and player harder, like she’s always done. Instead, the Kicks and the Kangaroos place a bet: Whoever can get the most fans in the stands at their games is clearly the better team.

But when their plans to bring in spectators puts both of their championship games in jeopardy, Devin has to make a choice. Is beating the boys worth risking the title the Kicks have played so hard for?
