The Thorn Gatherer is a story set in Jerusalem at the time of Christ's crucifixion. This is a look—through the eyes of an ordinary Jew—of the era, the times, and culture in which he lived.

It portrays an older man's view on the events of everyday life and their influence—if any—upon the lives of the people who lived at that time. The story provides an insight to the physical surroundings, the smells, sights, and the sounds of Jerusalem under Pontius Pilate's governorship.
