Thomas Paine Crusader for Liberty

Thomas Paine was one of the most influential writers of the eighteenth century.  He brought the world Common Sense, Rights of Man, and The Age of Reason, all clearly written attacks on political, civil, and religious bigotry.

Paine is often called the father of the American Revolution, even though he was not a signer of the Declaration of Independence.  With his pen, he brought the idea of liberty into the mainstream.  But later, when he became mired in the French Revolution, he risked his reputation and even his life.
