When Anne Shirley arrives at Green Gables farm, she surprises everyone. First of all, she's a girl. Marilla Cuthbert and her brother, Matthew, had specifically asked for an orphan boy to help around the farm. But her sweet disposition and quick wit convince her reluctant foster parents to let her stay.

She soon finds her place, making a friend in neighbor, Diana Barry, and attending the local school, where she spurns the advances of the popular and handsome Gilbert Blythe when he commits the ultimate sin of making fun of her hair.

With a temper as fiery as her hair, but a big heart, Anne changes the lives of Marilla and Matthew and just about everyone she meets.

Anne of Avonlea

It's been five years since Anne Shirley came to the town of Avonlea, and while she feels a little more grown up, she's still the same skinny, redheaded orphan Matthew and Marilla took in. After putting her dreams of attending Redmond College on hold so she can help Marilla with the farm, Anne doubts she has many adventures ahead of her. But even in plain old Avonlea her life is anything but ordinary.

Throw in some rambunctious orphan twins Davy and Dora, a foul-mouthed parrot, and a case of mistaken identity involving a cow, and Anne definitely gets more excitement than she thought she would staying in Avonlea.

Anne of the Island

Anne is off to Redmond College! While she's sad to be leaving Marilla and the twins, she's excited to finally become a full-fledged B.A., and to embark on new adventures with other Avonlea folks attending Redmond—a group that includes her friend Gilbert Blythe.

As Anne becomes the object of several boys' affections, she's faced with numerous ridiculous proposals that she can't possibly accept. Then Gilbert ruins everything by declaring his own feelings for her, and Anne worries that she's lost one of her best friends... and possibly so much more.

Anne's House of Dreams

Anne is marrying Gilbert Blythe! While she's deliriously happy to finally be with her version of Prince Charming, they'll be making their new home miles away, and she'll have to leave her beloved Avonlea. But Anne is always up for an adventure, especially when she has Gilbert by her side.

The newlyweds settle right in to their house of dreams. In true Anne fashion she immediately makes new friends, including salty Captain Jim, beautiful but tragic Leslie Moore, and prim and proper Miss Cornelia Bryant.

While Anne's new life is filled with triumphs and tragedies, her imagination, spirit, and sense of humor guide her as she navigates this next chapter in her extraordinary life.
