Abraham Lincoln: One Nation Under God - Heroes of Liberty

Abraham Lincoln grew up in the rough conditions of the frontier, where settlers were often hungry, cold, or without shelter. There was rarely a school close enough for Lincoln to attend. But from the moment he learned how to read, he devoured any book he could lay his hands on.

He educated himself and eventually became a lawyer. But his real passion was politics. He rose to become president at the most difficult time in the history of the United States: the struggle over the future of slavery that came to a head in the Civil War.

Lincoln's courage, generosity, sharp mind, and clear moral vision helped save America from the brink of catastrophe. He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known.
