Tom's parents have to go to Australia to claim some property left by a relative of Tom's father and they decide to send him to a boarding school called Elmwood Hall.

Tom at once enters the activities at the school, but an unpopular professer, Mr. Skeel is unfair to the boys, and Tom proposes a novel plan to get even. The pupils at Elmwood Hall all go on "strike" against Mr. Skeel refusing to recite to him until he changes his manner.

Mr. Skeel demands that the students be kept prisoners in their dormitory, and fed bread and water until they surrender

Can Tom and his friends expose the illegal acts of the professor?  Who will believe their story?

The Tom Fairfield books were written in the early 1900s and portray typical life for young, growing boys at the turn of the century.  Follow along with Tom, his friends, and their adventures as they learn and develop character.
