When I opened the top drawer of my mother's dresser, hoping to get a peek at my birthday present, I could not believe what I saw: papers that read "Transfer to London. United States Air Force."

What did these papers mean? Was my mom being transferred again? Would we be leaving California for good? What about my friends? What about school? And what would happen to my Chincoteague pony, Cloudy?
